Australians' attitudes to violence against women: full technical report : findings from the 2013 National Community Attitudes Towards Violence Against Women Survey (NCAS)

The third National Community Attitudes Survey Towards Violence Against Women survey was held in Australia in 2013, with 17,517 adults aged over 16 participating. This technical report provides supplementary material to the main report, including methodological and theoretical details, and presents the findings in greater detail. The survey was was commissioned by the Department of Social Services and undertaken by VicHealth in collaboration with the Social Research Centre and The University of Melbourne. The report discusses the role of gender equality in violence prevention; community knowledge of violence against women; violence supportive attitudes and beliefs; community responses to domestic violence, preparedness to intervene, and the attitudes of people born in non-main English speaking countries, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people with a disability.
